बाघ संरक्षण की दिशा में शानदार काम करने पर कुमाऊं के वेस्टर्न सर्किल को बड़ा अवार्ड मिलने जा रहा है। देश में पहली बार किसी सर्किल को यह पुरस्कार मिलेगा। इससे पहले टाइगर रिजर्व या फिर वाइल्ड लाइफ एनजीओ के हिस्से में बाघ मित्र अवार्ड आता था। गुरुवार को दिल्ली में आयोजित कार्यक्रम में डीजी फॉरेस्ट डॉ. सिद्धार्थ दास के हाथों वन संरक्षक डॉ. पराग मधुकर धकाते को यह सम्मान मिलेगा। वेस्टर्न सर्किल के तहत आने वाले पांच वन प्रभागों का अधिकांश हिस्सा मैदानी है। जून में एनटीसीए की हल्द्वानी में आयोजित बैठक में प्राधिकरण के अफसरों ने बाघ संरक्षण में बेहतर काम करने पर अफसरों की सराहना करने के साथ फंड व सुरक्षा-संरक्षण के लिए तकनीक भी मुहैया करवाने की बात कही थी। वहीं, 2018 की बाघ गणना के मुताबिक सिर्फ वेस्टर्न सर्किल की डिवीजनों में 125 से 150 बाघ चिह्नित किए गए। चौंकाने वाली बात यह है कि कई बड़े-बड़े टाइगर रिजर्व में तक में इतने बाघ नहीं है। लिहाजा, डब्लूडब्लूएफ (वल्र्ड वाइल्डलाइफ फंड) द्वारा इस साल बाघ मित्र का अवार्ड पश्चिमी वन वृत्त को दिया जा रहा है।  इस साल जुल...
